Test Taking

Dr. Dyan has worked with a variety of clients who have experienced test anxiety including when taking routine school exams as well as LSAT, MCAT, GRE’s, licensing exams, oral exams, interviews, or physical/athletic competitions.

She has helped clients to gain deeper understanding of the aspects of test taking that trip them up or cause anxieties, and she has assisted those individuals in developing tools to help them succeed and to feel confident and empowered moving forward.

When faced with studying, exam prep, or test taking, people often times experience significant anxiety in the form of emotional symptoms (like panic or feeling down), physical symptoms (like sweating, quickening of heart rate), or mental symptoms (like forgetting answers, having trouble concentrating).

Dr. Dyan holds a certificate as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® (SEP®) and she understands how past experiences of exam stress can be held as emotions in the body and mind in terms of the fight, flight, or freeze responses.

She works with clients one on one to help calm their nervous systems, to understand their anxiety and their personal learning style, to help improve confidence and devise strategies, and to support people in building self-help methods to use when taking exams.

One of the most effective and efficient tools that Dr. Dyan often uses is to help people learn self-hypnosis for test taking. In Dr. Dyan’s opinion, the best self-hypnosis for test anxiety can be very empowering because it can support staying “in the zone” so that people can be more focused and relaxed when studying or preparing and can increase their ability to more comfortably and successfully retrieve information and answers during the test.

Dr. Dyan has found that when people set a goal to use self-hypnosis for relaxation, sleep, depression, and to alleviate anxiety, they can easily learn to use self-hypnosis strategies as part of their daily routine.
